Our Story
Moravian Close comprises buildings which were the stable block and part of the gardens of Sir Thomas More’s great house, first built in 1524. The property was acquired by the Moravian Church in the 18th century. More’s lifestyle, his Utopia, the Moravians’ proposed Settlement ‘Sharon’ and the artistic vision of Ernest and Mary Gillick in the early 20th century work together in harmony, striving for a spiritual architectural setting here in the Close.
